Hartman Foundation

The Hartman Foundation (https://www.hartmanfonds.nl/), a Rotterdam fund focused on Codarts, annually provides the opportunity to support an innovative project in the field of classical music. Classical music students from Codarts, or recent graduates, can apply.
The innovative character of the projects can be expressed in many different ways. Examples can be tapping into new audiences, innovative forms of presentation or entering into interdisciplinary collaborations. But projects in the field of digital media are also possible.
Who can apply:
- The application must be submitted by at least 1 Codarts student or graduate in the academic year 2023/2024 or 2024/2025.
How much can be requested:
- An amount of up to € 2,500
Evaluation criteria for the submitted projects:
- Innovative character using classical music
- Rotterdam component
- Clear description and budget
- The project will be completed before January 1, 2026
- Social component
- Link to recording(s) or footage
Together, these criteria provide an overall picture of the submitted project. Not all of them are required in the application to be eligible for a contribution.

Make sure that the following is clear in your application:
- What do you want to present?
- How does it fit into (part of) the criteria?
- When does it take place?
- How are you going to organise it?
- And how did you arrange it financially?

An expert jury, consisting of the Head of Classical Music of Codarts and two teachers, will consider the submitted proposals and formulate an advice to the Hartman Fund. Before 1 June 2025, the Hartman Fund will decide whether and which project will receive a contribution.
The dates are listed below:
- 1 May 2025: deadline for submitting an application
- 1 June 2025: Hartman Fund communicates choice to applicants
- 1 January 2026: supported project has been completed. A report of the project is submitted with at least a financial paragraph.
