Voice
The main subject Voice at Codarts Pop provides a personalised education experience to students who want to establish a career in pop music. Focusing on both the technical skills and artistic development, our curriculum offers you a safe environment to further develop your musical passion and creativity.
Programme
Our teachers are all working professionals in the music industry and know first-hand what it means to use your voice as a professional instrument. You will study singing techniques with Harjo Pasveer and take performance lessons with Simone Roerade. In addition, you will learn how to sing backing vocals with Natasja den Toom, in a live setting, from sheet music, and in the studio.
During your study, you participate in live performances with your own working band and a skills band. You learn how to use your voice and collaborate with musicians from other disciplines. The curriculum also covers the business and commercial aspects of a career in the music industry. After all, you are not only a musician but also an entrepreneur!
In your lessons, we use a variety of methods, including EVTS (Estill Voice Training System) and CVT (Complete Vocal Technique). These are also valuable tools if you wish to teach in the future.
The curriculum's multifaceted approach enables you to forge your own career path, ranging from live performances to songwriting and music production. Our alumni have found opportunities in the music industry as backing vocalists, studio singers, vocal coaches, and live performers. Several of them have also become accomplished artists in their own right. Examples include Shirma Rouse, Rianne Walther (The Indien), Danique van der Vlugt (Kuzko/Dragonfruit), Jared Grant and Sharon Doorson.
Workshops and masterclasses
In addition to your regular classes, we organise workshops and masterclasses taught by renowned and lesser-known artists and a weekly group lesson in which all aspects of the profession are discussed by a host of guest teachers. This allows you to build valuable connections and a network that will advance your career in the music industry.
Simone Roerade, main subject teacher: “Everything has been done before, just not by you yet.”
