Opus 111 x Doelenensemble

In Opus 111 students have the chance to bring to life new compositions by our Classical Composition students. We believe that new music needs space, not only within our society and theatres around the world, but also within our university and educational institutions. Opus 111 follows the tradition of new-music ensembles like London Sinfonietta or Asko/Schoenberg and Ensemble Modern, ensembles which are built of all soloists. Last year, we started a fantastic collaboration with DoelenEnsemble, one of the most renown contemporary music ensembles in the Netherlands. Arie van Beek (Chief Conductor DoelenEnsemble) will be the guest conductor of the project and, besides, at least 2 of the pieces performed within the project, previously selected by an internal and external jury, will be premiered by DoelenEnsemble within their season and program.

Besides, as a continuation of this successful collaboration with DoelenEnsemble and Opus 111, this year, our students and these newly written pieces will have the opportunity to be performed twice in two different scenarios in the city.
