The Andrew Moreno Trio took on saxophonist Femke Mooren and drummer Rafael Slors in the exciting final. Both promising artists with great potential.

The jury spoke the following words about the winner: "We witnessed an extremely dynamic, versatile and mature trio with Andrew in a clear and leading role. He managed to pick the right, high-level players to accompany him on a journey thru his own musical universe. The trio showed an eclectic set of edgy and free, but yet accessible songs and is ready to play the big festivals straight away!"

Andrew Moreno is the guitarist and founder of the Andrew Moreno Trio. Founded in 2020, the Rotterdam-based band also includes bassist Jonathan Ho Chin Kiat and is currently collaborating with internationally renowned saxophonist Tineke Postma and Martin Hafizi on drums.

Andrew Moreno reacted after his win with the following words: “I’m grateful for this prize and happy that Codarts is a safe and supportive space for so many talented musicians. I’m also very proud of my band members and how far we’ve come together. Without their talent and dedication this big dream of mine would’ve never become anywhere to reality. We’ll be recording our debut album in May 2024 in Power Sound Studio with a lot of new fresh music and very special guests so you’ll hear more from us soon. Thanks to all my teachers, the members of the jury and everyone who made this special night for your kind words and endless support. I appreciate it deeply and the motivation to give my best on my debut album is now bigger than ever.”

The prestigious award for up-and-coming jazz talent was made possible this year by main sponsor Nedspice, de Doelen and the Friends of Codarts Foundation.
