This year's prestigious award for up-and-coming jazz talent was again organised by Codarts Rotterdam, the Friends of Codarts Foundation and Nedspice.
Kim Kamilla Jäger competed in the final with her trio Lavish against guitarist Emile De Schepper with his ensemble Ochre and drummer Tom Zuang with his trio Password123.
The jury said the following about Kim: "Kim Kamilla Jäger's trio Lavish managed to captivate the audience from the very first note. Lavish made contact with the audience and performed a wide range of sounds. "
Main sponsor Nedspice provided €3.000 for the winner, which is meant to give young jazz talent a push in the direction of the international professional circuit. The prize has proven to be a great stepping stone for a number of successful jazz musicians in the past, including Jan van Duikeren, Bart Wirtz, Louk Boudesteijn, Rik Kraak and Stephanie Francke. In 2022, Teja Poljanšek won the Erasmus Jazz Prize with her band Eleutheria.
