The reorganisation brings changes to management, operations, and support services. This means that some job titles or departments will change, job descriptions have been revised or certain positions will be discontinued due to a reduction in the number of roles.
Individual conversations
This week, individual conversations took taken place with employees directly affected by the reorganisation. In addition, employee meetings were organised where the Executive Board explained the new organisational structure.
The Executive Board takes the process very seriously and is committed to handling it with care and respect. There is significant attention given to supporting employees during this period of change. We're making every effort to support those employees who are pre-redundant from job to job.
Process towards the final decision
The Participation Council, representing both students and staff, has been closely involved in this process. Following the announcement in January, they organised listening sessions and incorporated the feedback into an advisory report, which was submitted to the Executive Board on 28 January 2025. This advice was taken into account in the final decision made by the Executive Board on 31 January 2025. Furthermore, extensive talks were held with the unions to establish a social plan, which was approved by union members on 4 February 2025.
Trust, ownership and collaboration
David Lauwen, Chair of the Executive Board, stated: "With this reorganisation, we are taking an important step towards a future-proof Codarts. We are a diverse and dynamic institution – and that's our strength. To operate as one, we need to build a strong and safe working culture in which trust, ownership, and collaboration are central. The new structure provides the foundation for this cooperation, but it is up to us to really bring it to life. If we commit to this together, Codarts can grow into an institution where collaboration, innovation, and decisiveness are at the core.”
