Codarts takes steps toward a future-proof organisation

Codarts is implementing changes in the organisation to strengthen its position as a leading university of the arts and ensure its future sustainability. With this organisational transformation, the university wants to further develop into 'One Codarts': a financially healthy, well-organised and flexible organisation that offers high-quality, leading education and research.

Codarts takes steps toward a future-proof organisation

David Lauwen, President of the Executive Board, explains: “To strengthen our education and create space for innovation, educational expertise and collaboration, it’s essential that we organise Codarts in a different way.”

The changes are driven by the challenges Codarts is currently facing. Expenses are exceeding income and cuts in higher education funding are expected, which could put additional pressure on the university’s financial position. Moreover, the needs of students, the professional field and society are evolving rapidly. To achieve financial health and adapt more quickly to these changes, a flexible and future-oriented approach is required.

Codarts has therefore planned a reorganisation of its management, support services, and operations. The university has already sought advice from the Participation Council, is in dialogue with labour unions, and has informed its staff. The final reorganisation plan is expected to be announced in early February, once the formal process has been completed.

Codarts is fully aware that this organisational transformation will have an impact on its staff, who dedicate themselves passionately to education every day. We will ensure that these changes are carried out with the utmost care and transparency, with a focus on the well-being of our colleagues.
