This time, the central focus was on fanfare Wilhelmina from Numansdorp. This orchestra, which has produced several professional musicians, worked with students from the brass, saxophone, and percussion departments in the morning. They gave workshops that covered both technical skills and musical expression. In this way, participants discovered a new approach to rehearsing and playing together.
After the workshops, a presentation concert took place at 12:30. The brass ensemble opened with a performance, followed by a concert of the saxophone class. Next, the 45-piece fanfare took over, performing original fanfare music by composers including Paul Gilson. Two Codarts students, Diogo Carvalho (bass trombone) and Jemma Bartlet (saxophone), then gave impressive solos.
This successful afternoon highlighted the value of the ‘Day of the Fanfare’ in inspiring both students and amateurs. Thanks to this event, we are left wanting more in the future!
