Enjoy a unique mix of cultures and musical styles on Tuesday 23th of April, during the festival Wanderlust. A perfect reflection of the Codarts World Music department in Walhalla.
EXPLORING MUSICAL ROOTS
Codarts World Music students will play rich sounds and surprising arrangements in 29 ensembles. After the success of last edition, the students will overwhelm the visitors with versatile music on a high level. A mix of Latin, Flamenco and Classical Turkish Music will be presented on no less than four stages. Be welcome and be surprised!

Colors Ensemble (Turkish Music)
Colors Ensemble performs traditional music of different cultures and languages across the world. Students from different cultures share their musical culture by making music together. This is how they develop their knowledge and understanding of how music relates to the beliefs, entertainment, identity structures and other cultural events of different communities.

Stradoc (Turkish Music)
Stradoc Ensemble is a fusion ensemble combined with students from both the Turkish music department and all other WM departments. The most important feature of this ensemble is that the pieces composed by the coach of the ensemble, Barbaros Bozkir, are arranged together with the ensemble students every year and meet with the audience for the first time.

Las Hienas (Latin)
The band "Las Hienas” is formed by eight women from five different countries. Based in Rotterdam, they started the Project in January 2023 to create a countermovement within the music scene, to represent music written by women on stage and face the discrimination against women and LGBTQIA+ people.
Their repertoire serves a wide spectrum from afro cuban music, modern salsa, music from the Andes, traditional rhythms from the Caribbean and influences from Jazz and Flamenco. With their energetic and pulsatile show, filled by lively and groovy tunes, they encourage their whole audience to move their hips. The band's sympathetic vibe brings a smile to every listener's face.

Rebetiko (Turkish Music)
Rebetiko ensemble attempts a fresh take on the early Rebetika & Cafe Aman songs of the '20s & early '30s. Echoes of greek & turkish folk music, ottoman popular makam songs and elements of westernization blend together into an urban cultural mixture of musical styles that stands as a classic, while remaining partially undiscovered in the two sides of the Aegean.
