Yaşam Hancılar Appointed New Head of Jazz at Codarts

Codarts is pleased to announce that Yaşam Hancılar will become the new head of Jazz starting from September 18th. With the arrival of Hancılar, who has extensive experience in the field of music, Codarts expects to further strengthen its jazz department in the coming years.

In 2009, he followed his passion for music and moved from Turkey to the Netherlands to study jazz vocals at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. This was a significant step for him because prior to his musical career, he worked in various management roles as an engineer for more than 7 years.

Remarkable Achievements Over the past 14 years, Hancılar has achieved remarkable accomplishments, including releasing three albums with his own jazz quartet. He also received a nomination for the Edison Jazz Award and performed at renowned venues such as Paradiso and the North Sea Jazz Club. His entrepreneurial and resourceful personality led to the success of his own music school in Amsterdam West, which grew into a thriving musical community within 9 years. Additionally, he held a special position as department head for classes and courses at Bplus C (Library Plus Centre for Arts and Culture) in Leiden.
